On December 29, 2022, CMS released Transmittal 18 which includes, among other changes to Medicare Cost Report filings, requirements for Exhibits serving as standardized logs with patient-level detail. Government Data Services is prepared to comply with the requirements when creating deliverables for our clients including data elements to be incorporated in Medicare Cost Report worksheets and Exhibits for projects including DSH, Medicare Bad Debt, and S-10/Uncompensated Care.
The instructions for Exhibit 3A are unclear and inconsistent with instructions for Worksheet S-2, Part I, line 24, and Worksheet S-3, Part I.
GDS is in communication with CMS regarding the inconsistencies.
The new instructions apply to Medicare Cost Reports beginning on or after October 1, 2022.
